My Holiday Lip Balm of Choice

So, I came back off holiday a couple of weeks ago, and probably my most used lip product while there was the EOS balm in Lemon Drop with SPF 15. If you've read my Holiday Lip Products post, you might notice that it didn't feature on there, which is actually because it was a last minute purchase when I was in Urban Outfitters the day before we went on holiday. I'd never tried an eos beofore as when there was all that hype around them, they were really hard to get hold of and I didn't fancy paying something ridiculous like £8 on amazon when they were $2-$3 in America. So basically, being the first time I saw them in a shop and at £5/ea I decided I just needed to pick one up- SPF it was, a lip balm I could wear throughout the summer.

I've read several reviews where people complain about them dragging on the lips, and I don't know if it varies per batch or what; but mine was absolutely fine. What I really liked about this lip balm was the fact that it didn't feel too slippery or shiny on the lips. You could hardly tell that I was wearing any and yet it felt really nourishing, and, well just overall... nice. Plus, the fact that eos balms boast 100% natural and 95% organic ingredients certainly helped. I know that natural products aren't necessarily best, but it did feel good not having to worry about how much petroleum or parabens I was slathering on my lips! However, despite the fact that I love the cute, quirky shape I did find it slightly difficult to fit into my small shoulder bag I took round with me most days.

Long story short: Would I recommend them? Yes. Would I buy more? Yes. I'd love to try the blueberry or the honeysuckle, as despite my liking the summery lemon scent, I think I'd prefer something less citrus-y for the coming colder months. What's your view of EOS lip balms? What are your favourite scents?

A Holiday Haul

My Purchases
Firstly, I'd just like to say that I hadn't planned on getting many (if any) makeup/ beauty bits on holiday; but, when I found out that in Jersey makeup is actually slightly less expensive- I mean, it would've clearly been irresponsible not to have purchased some of the makeup that had been on my mental wish list, wouldn't it?

Let's start off with my M.A.C goodies. I certainly didn't expect that within a week of my first two M.A.C lippies (here) I'd be adding to my small collection, but at £13.50 each instead of the usual £15.50, I just had to snaffle 'Hug Me' and 'See Sheer'. When searching for swatches on the internet, Hug Me had always looked rather on the brown side- a look I wasn't quite sure I could pull off. Yet, after swatching it on my hand, it was love at first sight! On my lips it appears to have a slight pink tone in there aswell- a colour I have been wearing a lot since I bought it.

See Sheer was a colour that I thought would be perfect for the transition from summer to autumn that we are currently going through (or all year round really!), as it isn't too bright and being more of a red and sheer coral makes it a unique colour in my collection. I also bought the mineralize skinfinish in 'Soft and Gentle'. I had originally wanted to get lightscapade, but they were out of stock, so the kind lady suggested this and after she applied it to my cheekbones, I knew it was a highlighter I had to have! Definitely one of my most exciting recent purchases.

I also bought the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in 'Rockstar'. I knew I wanted to get a deep purple or burgundy eyeliner for the coming seasons, and after my arm was filled with what seemed like a million swatches, I decided to take the plunge and buy this deep eggplant shade. A purchase I would certainly recommend- especially seeing as I paid the odd price of £12.59 for it, although in my opinion, it's easily worth the £15 price tag.

Also pictured above is the Revlon Matte Balm in 'Sultry'. I already own 'Elusive' and absolutely adore the formula of these- despite the fact that I personally think it's more of a satin than a matte finish. After loving wearing Elusive on holiday, I decided it was time to welcome another of these lovely lippies into my eager and loving arms (or lips?!) Again, I chose 'Sultry' as I thought it would be beautiful for the colder months ahead.

A purchase I forgot to photograph, (oops!) is my YSL Touch Eclat duo. I bought this is in duty free on the ferry to St. Malo (we went on a day trip there) when they had an extra 10% off cosmetics and fragrance. The Touche Eclat is something I'd heard an awful lot about and after my sister bought it, I knew I had to be immediately added to my mental wish list. So... I managed to buy two for £28.80! (expensive but a saving of over £20, as they're typically £25/ each) I have been loving this and been using it nearly daily since I bought it!

What have been your favourite holiday beauty buys recently?

My First M.A.C Lipstick (or Two?!)

M.A.C Peach Blossom and Plumful

I bought these on my last trip to Birmingham- the day before I went on holiday, hence why this post is up two weeks later. I already owned an eyeshadow from M.A.C, (All That Glitters) which I bought for prom; yet, I hadn't delved into the treasure trove that is the collection of their lipsticks... until now.
I was originally going to buy Patisserie and Plumful, but unfortunately they were out of stock, so I went with Peach Blossom instead (which I now love)!

I had decided to get patisserie(/peach blossom) as I wanted a flattering nude/ MLBB shade for everyday wear and knew that cool-toned pinks such as cult favourites 'Creme Cup' and 'Angel' would most likely look awful on me. After hours spent researching swatches online I decided that patisserie (with peach blossom in extremely close second) would be right for me.

I chose Plumful after watching many, many, many youtube videos of people's top M.A.C Lipsticks, Essie Button finally sold me on this particular shade. I love that as its a lustre it can be applied sheerly or can be built up for a more opaque colour. As summer is now dwindling away (and despite nearly two weeks on holiday I have hardly a tan to show for it), I thought this would be a perfect everyday autumn/winter colour to ease me into the colder months.

What was your first M.A.C lipstick purchase and which would you recommend the most?

Holiday Lip Products

Woo! I'm going on holiday to Jersey in a couple of days, and as you can probably guess, I'm ridiculously excited! I love packing for my holidays (unpacking...not so much) and the one thing I look forward to the most in preparation for a holiday is... yep! Packing my makeup!! It was very hard narrowing down my choices and I kept having to tell myself that any more than two bold lip colours is just too much for a girl who wears a more natural lip 80% of the time. I've also got a rule that I'm going to try to stick to, that I have to wear each colour at least once! So here are the 6 that made the cut for the 10 days away...

My two bold lip colours of choice are the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 110 and Topshop Brighton Rock. I love a red lippie, and 110 is the perfect summery, reddish coral that can be worn in the day or on an evening. Brighton Rock is a recent purchase of mine, and I fell in love with it at first swipe! Many bold pinks are too blue toned for me, but brighton rock is just perfect- I clearly need to bring it!

For a more natural lip I've gone with Revlon Berry Smoothie and my beloved lanolips! I absolutely adore the revlon lip butters and currently own four- although I have my eye on macaroon and sweet tart! Berry Smoothie and Peach Parfait are two of my go-to lip products if I don't know what to wear. Lanolips in rhubarb is always in my handbag and with the added benefit of SPF 15, it needs to come with me. I've recently done a review of this on my blog.

Last but not least is Revlon Matte Balm in Elusive and Benefit Posietint (this is a mini). Elusive is a perfect summery pink that lasts all day- a colour that I am in love with! A definite need for on holiday. And lastly, is posietint, and lovely poppy pink stain that lasts all day and also doubles up as a blusher- I mean, who doesn't love a good multi-use product when travelling?

What are your top lip products when going away?

My New Favourite?

Hello! Firstly, I'd just like to apologise for the lack of posts over the past few weeks- but I'm back now! ...Except I'm going on holiday in a couple of days so there won't be any posts for a couple of weeks- but as soon as I get back, I'm hoping to blog more frequently!

Ok, today I want to talk about possibly my new favourite lip product at the moment- Lanolips Lip Ointment in Rhubarb! You can probably find this in boots; although I actually picked mine up in my local Waitrose. It costs just over £8, which although many might think it a little steep for a lip balm, I personally think it's a great price for what it is as I would probably pay over £15- maybe even £20 for it- it's just that good!

It comes in a little squeezy tube with a slanted applicator, so it isn't necessary to use your fingers- although I prefer to with this particular product as my finger warms the ointment so I find it easier to apply. Mine is in the colour rhubarb, which is the perfect MLBB shade- although I personally would call it 'my lips but healthier' in this instance, as the slight shine and moisturising feel make my lips look (and actually be!) a healthier version of themselves. I believe they come in other colours/ scents including sunshine and rose. Plus, the fact that this has SPF 15 is just an added bonus in the summer months!

I bought this a couple of weeks ago after just getting rid of a cold sore. My lips were 10x drier and chapped than they had been in ages, which drastically limited which lipsticks I could wear (bye bye matte). I bought this when I saw it in Waitrose as I'd seen several beauty bloggers talking about it and thought it'd be something I'd be able to wear. This definitely helped my lips and I've been wearing this on an almost daily basis since then- what can I say? I always carry this in my handbag and when this runs out I'll be picking up a couple- one to keep in my 6th form bag! I truly cannot recommend this enough!! I also want to try some of the others in the lanolips range, maybe the lemonaid lipaid. Have you tried any lanolips?
The Lanolips website explains some of the benefits of lanolin- the main ingredient.
